Eligibility Criteria
Ensure you satisfy all the following government conditions before applying:
- 1The account can be opened by the parent or legal guardian in the name of a girl child.
- 2The girl child must be below 10 years of age at the time of account opening.
- 3Only one account can be opened per girl child.
- 4Maximum two accounts per family (or three in the special case of twins/triplets in the first or second birth).

How to Apply (Official Process)
Obtain Application Form
Download Form-1 (Account Opening Form) from India Post portal (indiapost.gov.in) or collect it from any post office or bank branch.
Fill Account Details
Fill in the name of the girl child, birth date, details of the parent/guardian, and initial deposit amount (minimum ₹250).
Attach Proofs
Attach verified copies of the girl's birth certificate, guardian's Aadhaar card, and PAN card.
Deposit Cash/Cheque at Counter
Submit form with the initial opening deposit at any post office or authorized bank (SBI, PNB, BoB, etc.).
Collect SSY Passbook
The post office/bank will issue a designated Sukanya Samriddhi Passbook with account number and deposit ledger.
