Scheme Overview

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is the flagship crop insurance scheme of the Government of India. It provides a comprehensive insurance cover against failure of the crop, thus helping in stabilising the income of the farmers and encouraging them to adopt innovative practices. Farmers pay a very minimal premium (2% for Kharif crops, 1.5% for Rabi food and oilseed crops, and 5% for commercial/horticultural crops), with the balance premium subsidized equally by Central and State Governments.

Target Beneficiaries

All farmers growing notified crops in notified areas (both loanee and non-loanee)

Assistance / Benefit Type
